Itinerary of Day Tour Sacred Valley
The Sacred Valley tour departs from your hotel after breakfast at 0800. We will drive across the high plain past Saqsaywaman and Tambomachay, two ancient Inca outposts then descend 1500 feet into the Sacred Valley. Following the path of the magnificent Urubamba River, we arrive at the famous town of Pisac, home to the famous market filled with traditional craft.
After a visit there, we will take a guided tour of the marvelous ruins of the Citadel, the site of the Southern entrance to the Sacred Valley, with far-reaching views. The walk will visit the fabulous Temple of the Sun and the Inti’Huatana– Hitching Post.
We drive on to Urubamba, our lunch stop, then continue to Ollantaytambo, another stronghold used to defend the Sacred Valley, it was the royal estate of an Inca Emperor. Here we will enjoy a tour of the ceremonial center at Temple Hill, including the massive “Wall of the Six Monoliths” and observe the Inca architectural feat of sunken terraces cut into the mountain from the valley floor, still in use for grain crops today.
As we arrive back into Cusco, we will make a visit to the famous church and archeological site at Chincheros, returning for drop off at your hotel at approx 1900.
