Itinerary Machu Picchu Day Tour
We pick up at your hotel in Cusco at 0330 (yes you read that right) for the short drive out to the Sacred Valley and the local village at Ollantaytambo, the ancient gateway to the valley. At Ollantaytambo we board the train for the ride to Aguas Calientes at the base of the mountain, arriving approx 0730.
At Aguas Calientes we board the bus to climb the switchback road up to magical Machu Picchu. We will enter the site and enjoy a fascinating guided group tour of approx two hours where the knowledgeable leader will explain everything regarding the mystical beliefs of the Inca and the purpose in their buildings.
Following the tour you will have time to explore the site to take photos and make the optional climb up Huayna Picchu for a spectacular vista accros the mountains and valley floor.
In the afternoon we descend to Aguas Calientes for the return train ride into Ollantaytambo and transfer to your Cusco hotel.
The Machu Picchu Day Tour is just US$277 per person and includes entry to Machu Picchu, Expedition class train tickets, Bus to/from train station and transfers to/from hotel. Not included are food/drinks and the optional extension to ascend Huayna Picchu. The Machu Picchu tour runs every day of the year and is bookable online for a small deposit of US$50 HERE. The Balance will be due at time of pick up in Cusco.
