On the Visit Cafayate, Salta tour we pick up at Salta hotel from 0715 for a day of colored ancient rock and unique high altitude wine. The Quebrada de las Conchas – Shell Gorge – on the day tour from Salta to Cafayate is one of THE great drives of the world. We make various stops on our tour through Shell Gorge at some pre-historic rock formations dating back to an ice age when dinosaurs roamed here. We will visit with time for photographs sites such as the Devil’s Throat, the Amphitheater, the Obelisk, the Castle and other colorful viewpoints.
The Garganta del Diablo – Devil’s Throat – is a popular stop and as you see from this clip of two of our favorite clients, tough to fit in one lens.
Upon arrival in Cafayate we will visit one or two wineries, known as bodegas, for tours and tastings included in tour price. Cafayate is the only place in the world the Torrontes grape is cultivated. After the winery visits, you have at leisure time for lunch, try the famous wine ice cream, wander the plaza and cathedral and visit the artesan stalls dotted around the pretty town.
The tour returns through the gorge, stopping at special places different from the outward journey. Arrival back to Salta approx 18.30 with drop off at hotel.
